The country, if the work holds, does. A deed is a slow letter to the next holder. The future is what the letter says when it is opened.

Nothing about the instrument was abstract. The whole point of an instrument is that it can be opened twenty years later and still mean what it said.
Same coordinate. Different country. The ridge is greener. The dam holds longer. The third generation walks the same fence.
By 2046: Pejar catchment in its fourth cycle. Glenclair in its sixth. The protocol library the standard reading of every agronomy student in the country. The dispatch no longer a dispatch — the way the next farm is run.
The daughter who inherits the deed reads the original receipt and walks to the coordinate. The share is still there. So is the country it points at.
A deed is a slow letter to the next holder. The country is what it says.
The decade is the work. The decade after that is what the work was for.
Most instruments forget what they were for. A regenerative deed cannot — the country it points at is the answer to the question the deed asks. Either the country is healing or the deed is not what it said.
This is the patience the dispatch keeps coming back to. Inheritance is the only honest test. The future is whoever opens the letter.
