A method, not a story. The same seven stages run on every project; the gates between them are the system's real signature.

III·1 · THE METHOD, SEEN PLAINLY

A field manual. Same seven stages on every project.

A method is what turns one project into a hundred. Same seven stages, same gates, same artefacts at the end. New land, new landholder, new geography — the same shape applies. Without this discipline the asset and the treasury have nothing to fill them; with it, the next project starts where the last one finished. Follow the gate, do the work, close the loop before starting the next.

Evaluate — is this land suitable for the intervention? Design — the project plan with named audit gates. Supply — capital, labour, inputs. Buy — allocations executed, contracts in place. Operate — the work on the land. Audit — independent verification. Learn — what to keep, what to change, what to teach the next project.

III·3 · THE GATES

A stage is a step. A gate is a step you cannot skip.

Above the seven stages sits a governance frame — who decides a stage has passed, who signs, what gets written down. Without this layer, the stages are ordered. With it, they are non-negotiable.

III·4 · WHAT THE STAGES PRODUCE

Each stage adds an entry to the asset, the treasury, or the blueprint.

Every stage produces something that lands in another chapter. The first project that runs end to end leaves seven artefacts behind — one per stage. Each one is the receipt the next chapter needs to begin.

  • Evaluate · Design
    declares what the project is. Establishes the unit (Chapter I) and the audit gates the treasury (Chapter II) will later inspect.
  • Supply · Buy
    pulls in the capital and the contributors (Chapter IV). The movement gathers around the specific projects this stage funds.
  • Operate
    is the work itself. Hands in soil. Cover crops in by the equinox. The fence finished before the rain. The audit photographs the land in the order the work was done.
  • Audit
    turns work into outcomes. The audited record is what the treasury (Chapter II) takes hold of.
  • Learn
    updates the blueprint. This is the entry point to the intelligence loop (Chapter V) — the project teaches the system here.
III·5 · THE BLUEPRINT LIBRARY

What the system remembers, project to project.

The seventh stage produces a blueprint update. The blueprint is the codified version of what works — for this kind of land, with this kind of practice, at this kind of scale. Every project that completes adds a small, specific improvement.

This is also what allows the next project to start sharper. Project ten does not start where project one started; it starts where project nine finished. Chapter V takes this point further; here it is enough to say the library is the institutional memory of the operating system.

III·6 · AUDIT, NOT PROMISE

The system reports what happened, not what was hoped.

The operating system is built around audit, not pitch. Every stage produces an artefact that can be inspected by parties independent of the project. The audit stage is not a stamp; it is a working examination. This discipline is also why the treasury holds outcomes rather than promises — the audit is the quality line between the work and the ledger.

The audit documents the outcome. It does not insure against loss. Audit cadences per project class are settled at design stage.

III·7 · WHY THIS MATTERS

A method scales. A story does not.

Most regenerative work to date has been bespoke — brilliant singular projects, stitched together post hoc into a slide deck. The operating system is what makes Fresh Earth deployable. New land can be evaluated; the design stage knows what to ask. New capital can be supplied; the buy stage knows how to allocate it. New audit firms can be brought in; the audit stage knows what to deliver them.

The diagram above is not abstraction. It is the literal structure that runs on every project. The next chapter, the movement, gathers around it.
